Twitter needs automation

I just signed up for Twitter, for no discernible reason. I suppose it will be amusing to play with for a while. It immediately reminded me, though, of a clever little hack I saw years ago on JWZ's website. A brilliant former software guy who I don't know (I semi-remember meeting him once when I was visiting Netscape, but for both of us it would have been one of those "oh hai nicetameetcha k bye" moments"), the little hack I remember posted a list of either the most recent pages he visited or the ones he bookmarked. Or something like that. Actually it's kind of bizarre that I remember any of this. But I just checked, and the website is still there (and still has the same design!)

Anyway, the idea is that Twitter needs automatic functions like that. I'm listening to iTunes right now, and Twittered one of the tunes (ONE, and don't expect more!) But why should I have to do even that? My "listening stream" should be accessible as a text stream that could be directed, say, to twitter.

It's probably not that hard, but I'm not going to do it. The last piece of serious code I wrote was waaay back when -- and even then I probably wouldn't have bothered. But still.
